MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season when the Mountaineers travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to square off with Lehigh from the Patriot League on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: Senior Sydney Henderson scored her 1,000th career point, helping the Mount to its first win of the 2013-14 campaign by a final score of 86-77 over IPFW in the Preseason WNIT on Nov. 16 at Loyola Chicago.
ABOUT LEHIGH: Carrying a 2-1 record with wins over Niagara and NJIT, Lehigh is looking to bounce back from a 79-73 loss to Villanova last time out on Nov. 14. The fifth seed in last year's Patriot League Tournament, the Mountain Hawks feature three players who score in double figures, led by Kerry Kinek's 21.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Lehigh is coached by Sue Troyan in her 19th season at the helm.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. LEHIGH: The Mount holds a 4-3 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to 1975. The Mountaineers won four of the first five meetings before Lehigh won two in a row entering Tuesday.
LAST YEAR VS. LEHIGH: In the Mount's final nonconference game of the 2012-13 season, Lehigh built a 26-22 halftime lead and was able to extend it to nine points in a 66-57 win over the Mount on Jan. 2, 2013. Jessie Kaufman came off the bench to lead the Mount's offense with 17 points. The Mount was outrebounded, 39-29, on the day.
1,000 CAREER POINTS: Senior guard Sydney Henderson became the 26th player in Mount women's basketball history to score at least 1,000 career points. She accomplished the feat on a pair of first-half free throws against IPFW on Nov. 16.
The Richmond, Va. native is the fourth player coached by Bryan Whitten to score 1,000 points for the Mount, joining Tiffany Green, Brianna Gauthier and Mary Dunn. She is also the first 1,000 point scorer since Dunn, who reached the mark on Jan. 10, 2011, and the 20th player to reach the 1,000 point mark since the Mount joined Division I in 1988-89.
SCORING JUMP: During the 2012-13 season, the Mount's offense averaged 58.5 points per game. Through four games this season, the scoring average has spiked to 72.0 with three players averaging nine points per game or better in Sydney Henderson (22.0 ppg), Jessie Kaufman (11.0 ppg) and Jacqueline Brewer (9.0 ppg).
BRYAN WHITTEN: Head Coach Bryan Whitten picked up his 70th victory at the Mount on Nov. 16 against IPFW. Now in his seventh year in Emmitsburg, Whitten has led the Mount to the Northeast Conference Tournament four times, including a trip to the NEC Semifinals last season.
