April 17, 2019--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had a trio of Northeast Conference Track and Field Weekly award winners, announced today by the conference office. Brian Sagendorf was named the NEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week, Dylan LaNoue the NEC Men's Rookie of the Week and Dominique Jeffery the NEC Women's Rookie of the Week.
Sagendorf, who missed the 2018 outdoor season, has improved his standing amongst NEC javelin leaders during each of his three appearances thus far this spring. Sagendorf's latest effort catapulted the veteran Mountaineer to the top of the conference-wide performance list. Inching closer to the personal record he set at the 2016 Penn Relays (65.65), the Garden State product sent the javelin 64.40m (211' 3") to finish first amongst all collegiate entries at the George Mason Spring Invitational. The 64.40m throw gives Sagendorf the No. 31 ranking on the NCAA Division I East Region leader board. The senior sits 16th amongst IC4A Championship qualifiers.
LaNoue leapt to an automatic qualification for the IC4A Championships while contesting the Messiah Multi Invitational. Adding two centimeters onto his league-leading height, the first-year Mountaineer cleared 2.02m (6' 7.5") to win the competition and meet the IC4A qualifying standard. In addition to his No. 1 ranking in the high jump, the Keystone State product owns top-15 marks amongst NEC leaders in the long jump and triple jump.
Jeffery moved up to third place amongst Northeast Conference 200m leaders while competing at the George Mason Spring Invitational. The first-year Mountaineer completed the dash in 25.04s, posting the sixth-fastest time amongst 43 finishers at the meet. Although not a seasonal best, Jeffery recorded a top-10 NEC time in the 100m dash at George Mason, too. Her busy weekend also included running a leg for the 4x100m relay team that registered an ECAC Championship qualifying time.
