January 16, 2019--Freshmen Lewis Kungu (Bear, Del.) and Rene Rosso (Winchester, Va.) each collected Northeast Conference weekly honors, announced today by the league. Kungu earned his second NEC Rookie of the Week honor this season while Rosso captured her second Rookie of the Week award this year as well.
Kungu claimed the NEC's top time in the 400m dash this year by posting a time of 46.67 seconds at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational hosted by the United States Naval Academy. Kungu also recorded a time of 6.95 seconds in the 60m dash for the Mountaineers.
Rosso competed in the pentathlon at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational this past weekend at Navy. She finished the event with 3,037 points, the second-best mark in the NEC so far this year. Her mark of 9.16 seconds in the 60m hurdles and 1.62m in the high jump both rank in the top three this season on the NEC leaderboards.
The Mount men's and women's indoor track and field teams return to action on Saturday, January 19, at the Bucknell Gulden Invitational.
