The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams return to the track at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational hosted by Navy on January 11 and 12. The mulit-events begin on Friday, Jan. 11 at 4:00 p.m., while action concludes on Saturday, Jan. 12. Events begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Admission to the event is free.
NAVE AND FINN TAKE HOME FIRST AT LEHIGH: Carter Nave and Rachel Finn each won the pole vault to pace the Mount St. Mary's track and field teams at the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals meet. Nave grabbed first place after clearing 4.55m (14' 11") to pace the field of 21 athletes. Finn took home first place in the women's pole vault by clearing 3.65m (11' 11.75") on Friday to best the field of 23 competitors.
TRIO OF MOUNTAINEERS CLAIM NEC WEEKLY HONORS: A trio of Mountaineers earned Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field honors on December 5. Kayla Barnes (Baltimore, Md) was named the NEC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, Rene Rosso (Winchester, Va.) the NEC Women's Rookie of the Week, and Lewis Kungu (Bear, Del.) the NEC Men's Rookie of the Week for their performances at the season-opening Navy Winter Invitational. FINN BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD: Rachel Finn broke the school record in the pole vault to lead the Mount St. Mary's indoor track and field teams as they opened the 2018-19 indoor track season at the Navy Invitational on December 1st. Finn broke the Mount's indoor pole vault record with a mark of 3.90m, besting the previous school mark of 3.76m set by Mandy Jenkins in 2007. Her performance was an ECAC qualifier as well.
PRESEASON POLLS: The Mount's men's indoor track and field team was picked second while the women's team was picked third in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on January 4.
