Tampa, Fla. (May 24, 2018)—Mount St. Mary's senior D.J. Workcuff closed out his tremendous outdoor track and field season by competing in the long jump at the NCAA East Preliminary on Thursday afternoon. The meet was held at the University of South Florida's Track and Field Stadium.
Workcuff, who was the Most Valuable Performer at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championships earlier this month, placed 43rd out of 48 competitors. He opened the competition with a leap of 6.79m (22' 3.5") and followed with a mark of 6.47m (21' 2.75"). He closed the competition with his best jump of the day at 6.89m (22' 7.25"). Workcuff qualified for the East Preliminary with a career-best mark of 7.57m (24' 10") that won the event at this year's NEC Championships. The top 12 competitors in today's competition advanced to the NCAA Finals.
