April 28, 2018--Senior Brenden Chavis broke his own school record in the hammer throw to lead the Mount track team on Saturday. Chavis finished in seventh place at the Penn Relays.
Chavis had a mark of 58.04m (190' 5") to break his own school record of 57.37m (188' 3") set two weeks ago at the Messiah Invitational.
The remainder of the team was at the Red Flash Open hosted by Saint Francis U. On the men's side, Todd Sampson won the 110m hurdles with Zachary Delker taking home first in the shot put while Alex Devine was second in the discus. For the women, Alexandra Kay won the 3,000m steeplechase, Jesslyn Manni was second in both the discus and the hammer throw, and Jameela Buchanan second in the 100m dash.
The Mount outdoor track and field teams are back in action next week as the Mount hosts the 2018 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Morgan Track on campus on May 5-6.
