Mount Track Records Multiple PR'S at Akron Invitational


February 3, 2018--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams set multiple personal records this weekend at the Akron Invitational with Mount sprinters leading the way.

On the women's side, Kayla Barnes set PR's in both the 60m dash and the 200m dash for the Mountaineers.  She posted a time of 7.71 seconds in the preliminary round of the 60m dash, a personal best mark and the third-best mark in Mount history.  In the 200m, Barnes won the Blue race with a personal-best mark of 24.73 seconds.

Mariah McLane finished eighth in the Gold race in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 57.61 seconds.  Elizabeth Shodiya set a PR in the long jump (5.52m, 18' 1.5") while Chardane Logan finished in seventh place in the 400m dash with a mark of 58.23 seconds.  Chelsea Wright tied for fourth in the high jump (1.60m, 5' 3") while Erin Sample was third in the blue division in the shot put (13.18m, 43' 3").

For the men, Justin Kimble recorded PR's in both the 60m and 200m dash.  In the 60, he had a time of 6.80 seconds to finish fourth in the Blue race.  That time improves upon his school record set earlier this year.  Kimble finished in fifth place in the Gold race in the 200m dash with a time of 21.78 seconds, which is second all-time at the Mount.

Brady Altland finished in eight place in the 400m dash in the Gold race with a time of 50.65 seconds while Will Merritt was seventh in the 3000m run with a PR of 8:31.12 in the Gold Race.  The Mount's Distance Medley Relay team of Isaac Kole, Altland, Tyler Moore and Benjamin Finnigan placed third with an IC4A qualifying time of 10:11.24.  Sean Fahey was eighth in the triple jump (13.19m, 43' 3.25"), Brenden Chavis sixth in the Gold Weight Throw (17.16m, 56' 3.75") while D.J. Workcuff had a mark of 7.14m (23' 5.25") in the long jump during the heptathlon.  Andrew Humm posted a PR time of 49.80 to finish in second place in the Blue Division 400m dash while Finnigan took home first place in the Blue 800m run (8:43.32).  Zachary Delker added a third-place mark of 14.89m in the shot put as well.

The Mount also had athletes compete at the Susquehanna University Challegen with Jameela Buchanan finishing second in the 400m dash to lead the way.
