Annapolis, Md. (January 13, 2018)—The Mount St. Mary's University men's and women's indoor track and field teams were in action at the Navy Invitational today. Christopher Gabor won the heptathlon to pace the Mountaineers at the meet, which included South Carolina, Navy, Wake Forest, Penn, George Mason and the Mount.
Gabor posted a personal-best mark of 5,096 to win the heptathlon while teammate D.J. Workcuff finished in third with 4,799 points. Justin Kimble finished in third place in the 60m dash with a time of 6.90 seconds. Sean Fahey was fifth in the triple jump and Zachary Delker fifth in the shot put as well for the Mount.
For the women, Kayla Barnes finished seventh in both the 60m dash (7.82) and the 200m dash (25.29). Her time in the 200m is good for fourth on the Mount's all-time list. Chardane Logan finished in fourth place in the 500m run while Moriah Fitzgerald was tied for fourth in the pole vault (3.50m). Mariah McLane finished seventh in the 400 dash (58.52), Chelsea Wright tied for sixth in the high jump (1.55m), Erin Sample seventh in the shot put (12.82m) and ninth in the weight throw (14.46m) with Jesslyn Manni finishing 10th in the weight throw (13.41m).
The Mount track teams return to action next Saturday with athletes competing at both the Maryland Terrapin Invitational and the Bucknell Gulden Relays.
