The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's track and field teams open the 2013 outdoor season at the Wake Forest Open.
Last Year at Wake Forest: The Mount opened the 2012 season with solid performances at the Wake Forest Open. Teika Robinson finished fourth in the triple jump (11.85m) while Chantel Lipkins was seventh in the long jump (5.39m). Megan Kinsella was seventh in the 3000m steeplechase with Heather Juhring placing eighth in the javelin.
For the men, Dylan Bernard finished fifth in the 5000m run and Quinton Huguley fifth in the long jump. Coby Rosemier-Gussio was sixth in the 200m dash (21.64) while Tom FitzSimons was ninth in the 400m (48.50) and 11th in both the pole vault and the 110m hurdles.
2012 Outdoor Recap: Tom FitzSimons earned Second Team All-America honors in the decathlon while Gigi Gibilisco finished 18th in the NCAA East Preliminary in the 800m run to highlight the 2012 season. Heather Juhring also advanced to the NCAA East Preliminary after breaking the school record in the javelin while also taking first place at the NEC Championships.
Coby Rosemier-Gussio was the Rookie of the Meet at the NEC Championships last season. He anchored the Mount's winning 4x400m relay team while also finishing second in the 200m dash. FitzSimons won the pole vault while Gibilisco posted a new meet record while winning the 800m. For the women, Megan Kinsella was second in the 3000m steeplechase and Teika Robinson second in the long jump.
The Mount men finished fifth and the women sixth at last year's NEC Outdoor Championships.
