The Mountaineers return to Our Lady of the Meadows Field for a doubleheader with Albany on Wednesday afternoon.  The Mount has won six of its past eight games to move to 10-13 on the season.

MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount split a doubleheader at Delaware on Saturday, falling 6-1 in the opening game before posting a 7-3 win in game two.  Avery Neuhart tossed five innings of scoreless relief while Kaylee Stoner drove in four runs to pace the Mount to the win in game two.  Shelbee Holcomb went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles in the Mount's loss in game one.  Holcomb leads the Mount with a .412 average while Lindsay Heinze is hitting .373 with seven doubles, seven home runs and 19 RBI.  Katie Olson leads the pitching staff with a 2-1 record and a 3.54 ERA in 13 appearances.

ABOUT THE GREAT DANES: Albany is 5-7 this season, last competing at the Pirate-Spartan Classic on March 8-10.  The Great Danes are coming off a 1-0 loss to Norfolk State that saw Albany pitcher Maranda Jimenez toss a no-hitter in the game.  Katie Falotico leads Albany with a .342 average and eight RBI while Chelsea Henige and Sarah Petzold are each hitting .306.  Celeste Verdolivo is 4-3 with a 2.77 ERA while Jimenez is 1-3 with a 4.27 ERA.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  Mount St. Mary's is 2-4 all-time against Albany after the Mount's 9-4 win against the Great Danes on March 9 in a game played at Hampton University.  Last season, the Mount split two games with Albany, winning 14-6 on March 3, before the Great Danes came back with a 15-2 win on March 5.

FIRST MEETING:  The Mount defeated Albany, 9-4, on March 9.  Jessica Nines and Lindsay Heinze each hit three-run homers to help the Mount rally from an early 4-0 deficit.  Nines started the comeback with a three-run homer in the bottom of the second.  The Mount then scored five times in the fourth to take the lead for good, highlighted by Heinze's three-run blast that capped the inning.  Click HERE for the full recap.

HEINZE BREAKS CAREER DOUBLES RECORD:  Senior Lindsay Heinze hit a pair of doubles in the Mount's 11-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore last Wednesday to break the Mount's all-time record for two-base hits.  Heinze now has 40 career doubles, topping the mark of 39 that was set by Amanda Burk (2006-09).

NINES ON A ROLL:  Senior catcher Jessica Nines has provided the Mount with a hot bat the last few weeks.  Nines has a six-game hit streak, and has reached base in 12 consecutive games for the Mountaineers.  She is hitting .400 (12-for-30) with four home runs and 12 RBI over the past 12 games, posting an on-base percentage of .514.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING:  The Mount is 9-1 this season when scoring six or more runs in a game and 8-2 when hitting at least one home run…Morgan Alisauckas has reached base in each of the past 10 games…Lindsay Heinze has an eight-game hit streak, going 12-for-28 (.429) with three doubles and four home runs over that span…Shelbee Holcomb is hitting .474 (18-for-38) over the past 14 games…Katie Olson is 2-1 with a 2.78 ERA over her past nine appearances (22.2 IP)…The Mount is averaging 7.0 runs over its past eight games, hitting .335 as a team with 10 home runs.

HEINZE AND ALISAUCKAS MOVING UP HOME RUN CHART:  Senior Lindsay Heinze and graduate student Morgan Alisauckas continue to move up the Mount's career home run chart.  Heinze has a team-high seven home runs this year, giving her 23 for her career.  She has moved into third place on the Mount's all-time home run list behind cousin Rachel Heinze (43, 2014-17) and Liz Christiansen (25, 2009-13).  Alisauckas has a pair of home runs this year, giving her 19 for her career, which is good for fourth all-time at the Mount.

HEINZE MOVING IN ON CAREER RBI RECORD:  Lindsay Heinze is closing in on the Mount's career record for runs batted in.  Heinze has a team-high 19 RBI this season, moving her to 114 RBI in her career.  She is second on the all-time list behind cousin Rachel Heinze, who had 121 RBI from 2014-17.

PRESEASON POLL:  The Mount was tabbed to finish in seventh in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.  Sacred Heart was the unanimous pick to win it all, followed by LIU Brooklyn, Saint Francis U, Central Connecticut, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, the Mount, Wagner and Robert Morris.  The Mount finished tied for sixth in the NEC standings last year with a 7-9 league record.

HEAD COACH ANNA NAGRO:  Nagro is in her ninth season at the helm of the Mount softball program, the longest tenure by a head coach in the history of the program.  Nagro has led the Mount to 37 wins over the past two seasons, including 20 in 2017, the most by a Mount team since the 2010 campaign.
