Mount Softball Welcomes Bucknell to Campus for Wednesday Afternoon Doubleheader

MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's split a doubleheader with Robert Morris last Friday in the home opener.  After falling 5-2 in the opening game, the Mountaineers rebounded to capture game two, 3-1.  Katie Olson tossed a complete game in the game two victory while the Mount scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to rally from a 1-0 deficit to secure the win.  Lindsay Heinze's two-out single to right evened the scored, and Marian Ruf followed with a double to give the Mount the lead.  Olson pitched 11 innings in the doubleheader, allowing just two runs.

ABOUT THE BISON:  Bucknell has won eight in a row to improve to 17-18 on the season, including a 7-2 mark in the Patriot League.  This past weekend, the Bison swept a three-game series with Lafayette.  Lauren Hadley leads teh team with a .374 average while adding six home runs and 23 RBI. Meghan Kova is hitting .286 with a team-high nine home runs.  Raeanne Geffert is the top pitcher with a 12-7 record and a 1.87 ERA in 119.2 innings of work.  Bucknell is hitting .270 as a team this season.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  Bucknell holds a 26-7 lead in the all-time series with the Mountaineers.  The Bison have won the past six matchups between the teams, including a 4-0 win last year on Feb. 26.  The Mount is 3-13 all-time at home against Bucknell. The Mount's last win over the Bison was an 8-3 victory in the opening game of a road doubleheader on April 27, 2004.  Bucknell last played at the Mount in 2010, sweeping a doubleheader (11-4, 8-0) on April 6.

TURNING TWO:  The Mount has turned 21 double plays this season and is second in the nation with 0.81 double plays per game.  Rutgers leads the nation with 0.83 double plays per game.  Last year, the Mount turned 15 double plays for the year.
