Lancaster, Pa. (November 17, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University men's and women's swimming & diving teams both closed out the first day of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Friday night sitting in fourth place.
The men's team has 188 team points after day one and trails only Delaware (291 pts), Washington & Lee (246) and Franklin & Marshall (212). On the women's side, the Mount has 184 team points, trailing Delaware (258), Washington & Lee (228) and York College (213).
Mary Lombardi clocked in at 17:39.12 in the 1650 free to take second place for the Mount's top individual finish of the day. Maggie deTar earned a seventh-place finish (18:01.88) and Bridget Vaughan finished 12th (18:04.80) as the three Mountaineers each collected points in the event.
The women's team's top relay finish came in the 400 medley relay, as the squad of Maddie McGraw, Lauren Gullickson, Juliet Whitman and Maggie deTar finished fourth in a time of 3:59.79.
In the 200 free relay, the Mount's relay team consisting of JeMoon Won, Valeria Villagran, Bridget Vaughan and Maddie McGraw placed 14th with a time of 1:43.21.
In the men's 1650 free, Nicholas Starvaggi registered a sixth-place showing, clocking in at 16:39.97.
In the 200 free relay, Twizell, John Wilson, Carroll and Cudahy finished sixth with a time of 1:27.09.
Day two of the invite continues tomorrow (Nov. 18) with the preliminary heats at 10 a.m. and the final at 6 p.m.
