Bobby Edwards Signs Professional Contract with Portadown F.C. in Northern Ireland

June 25, 2019 – Former Mount St. Mary's goalkeeper Bobby Edwards signed a professional contract with Portadown Football Club in Northern Ireland early last week.

"To say that this is a dream come true would be an understatement. My entire life, I have always had one dream - to play professional soccer," said Edwards. "I hope this is just the beginning for me, but I am unbelievably excited to start this new chapter of my life and see what the future has in store."

Edwards came to the Mount as a grad student prior to the 2018 campaign, serving as a team captain and the starting goalkeeper for a young Mount squad making its return to Division I competition. Edwards started all 16 games in goal for the Mountaineers in 2018, posting a .748 save percentage and 1.64 goals against average between the pipes while registering a pair of shutouts on the year.

"I am forever indebted to those who have helped me throughout this journey and shaped me into who I am today," continued Edwards. "I am especially grateful for those at Mount St. Mary's University who believed in me as both an athlete and a person. Thank you to Coach Cunningham, Coach Singer and Coach Miller for their mentorship and guidance both on and off the field."
