The Mountaineers opened Northeast Conference (NEC) play last Friday with a match against Fairleigh Dickinson in Emmitsburg. Mount goalie Bobby Edwards tied his season-high with nine saves in the tilt, as the Mount and FDU played to a 0-0 draw. Edwards came up with a big save with just under two minutes remaining in the half to keep the game scoreless. Fairleigh Dickinson's Ahu Obhakhan received the ball in the box from eight yards out, but Edwards was able to reach out and made a save with his foot to deny the Knights the go-ahead goal. Edwards made four more saves in the second half, including one from point blank range on Jacob Labovitz with just over 18 minutes left in the frame. The Mountaineers were able to close out the game without surrendering a goal, resulting in a scoreless draw to begin league play.

The Mount has five players tied for the team-lead in both goals and points, with three of those five being freshmen. In the net, Edwards has recorded a .772 save percentage and 1.34 goals against average in nine starts. The net minder ranks second in the NEC in save percentage and shutouts.
