Somerset, N.J. (March 18, 2019) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse junior Joshua Davies has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the third straight week a Mount player has earned the award, as Davies follows up back-to-back honors by goalie Dylan Furnback.
Davies combined for six caused turnovers and three ground balls in contests against #17 Johns Hopkins and Bryant over the week. The defenseman caused three turnovers while also adding his first career assist in Tuesday's contest at 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins, and followed it up by helping lead the Mountaineers to a victory over Bryant in the NEC opener on Saturday, registering three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls in the team's 10-7 win. Tasked with taking on the opposing team's top scorer throughout the season, Davies leads a defensive unit which has now held opponents to single-digit goals in three of the last five games.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action this Saturday, March 23 for a contest at Robert Morris at 3 p.m.
