Somerset, N.J. (March 11, 2019) – Mount St. Mary's sophomore goalie Dylan Furnback has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Furnback earned a pair of wins in goal against #14 Richmond and Mercer, which included a season-high 14 saves in the Mount's upset victory over the Spiders last Tuesday. The sophomore made a crucial save in the overtime period that led to Chris DiPretoro's game-winning goal on the other end. The victory over Richmond was the Mount's sixth win against a ranked opponent in program history and the first since 2013. Furnback also stopped nine shots in the team's comeback win against Mercer on Friday as the Mountaineers made it three straight wins. Over the team's three-game winning streak, Furnback has registered a combined .590 save percentage and allowed just 25 goals in the three tilts.
Mount St. Mary's travels to 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins for a matchup on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.com, and will also air on ESPNU on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
