The Mountaineers are coming off their first win of the season with an 18-7 triumph over Bellarmine this past Saturday that moved the Mount to 1-4 on the year. As a team the Mount is averaging 8.4 goals per contest, led by Chris DiPretoro, who owns a team-high 10 goals and 13 points. Brenden McCarthy (7g, 5a) and Bubba Johnson (7g, 3a) are the two other Mountaineers with double-digit points through the opening five games. Between the pipes, Matt Vierheller has posed a .416 save percentage and 13.00 goals against average.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Brenden McCarthy collected the team's first league honor of the season as he was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. McCarthy helped guide the Mount to its win over Bellarmine with five points on a pair of goals and three assists as he recorded his second multi-goal effort of the season.

The Mount stopped a four-game losing streak with a victory over Bellarmine last Saturday, rolling past the Knights for an 18-7 victory. The Mountaineers traded goals with the Knights in the first period before the Mount's offense exploded for five tallies in the second, with five different players (Spencer Smith, Matt Haggerty, Bubba Johnson, Brenden McCarthy, and Chris DiPretoro) getting on the scoresheet. The Mount opened the third period with three straight goals, including a pair from DiPretoro, to extend its lead to 11-4. The Mountaineers pushed their advantage to 14-6 midway through the fourth, and scored the final four goals of the contes to close out an 18-7 victory.
The Bulldogs are currently 4-4 on the season with their wins coming against Siena (18-13), Yale (9-6), Hartford (17-11), and Manhattan (17-10). Their four losses on the season came at the hands of Bucknell (8-9), Providence (6-7), Boston U (9-12), and Drexel (5-7). The Bryant offense is led by Tucker James, who has a team-high 24 goals and 14 assists on the season. James Werner owns an 8.71 goals against average and a .531 save percentage between the pipes.
The Mountaineers travel to Moon Township, Pa. for the first of a two-game road trip, facing off against Robert Morris at Joe Walton Stadium on March 25 at 1 p.m.
