Daytona Beach, Fla. (April 26, 2019) – Nacho Gomez led the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team during the opening round of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Friday, shooting an even-par 72 to place himself in a tie for second place on the individual leaderboard.
Mount St. Mary's sits in sixth place in the standings with a team score of 315 (+27). Robert Morris occupies the top spot following an opening round of 300 (+12) on Friday.
Gomez, who registered 12 pars on the day, finished strong by recording birdies on three of his final four holes. Gomez sits in a tie with A.J. Skinner of Wagner for second place, as the pair trail only Saptak Talwar of Sacred Heart, who shot a 71 (-1).
Jack Snyder was next up for the Mountaineers, as he sits in a tie for 20th place. Snyder registered a strong score of 36 on his opening nine holes, and finished with a total of 79 (+7) on the day.
Michael Robinson recorded one birdie and 11 pars on Friday, and closed things out with a 38 on his final nine holes to finish at 81 (+9) on the day.
