South Kent, Conn. (September 18, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's men's golf team closed out the final day of the Hartford Hawks Invitational from Bull's Bridge Golf Club on Tuesday. Pablo Alonso led the Mountaineers with a two-round score of 151, and the Mount finished in a tie for 18th place in the team standings with a score of 621 after registering rounds of 312 and 309. The third round of the tournament was called off due to inclement weather.
Central Florida won the tournament with a score of 550, while UConn (559) and Seton Hall (564) rounded out the top three in the standings.
Alonso, who shot a 78 on the opening day, tied for the Mount's best round of the season on Tuesday with a 73, as the freshman finished the tournament with a 151.
Senior Nick McCann registered the team's second-best finish of the tournament, posting rounds of 79 and 76 for a total of 155.
Sophomore Nacho Gomez led the Mountaineers on Monday with a 77, and followed with a 79 on Tuesday to post a 156 overall.
Mount St. Mary's finishes out the fall semester at the Firestone Invitational hosted by the University of Akron at Firestone Country Club on October 1 and 2.
