Emmitsburg, Md. (February 22, 2018)--Five players scored in double figures as Mount St. Mary's topped Robert Morris, 72-53, at Knott Arena on Thursday night.  The win was the 100th for head coach Jamion Christian in his six seasons at Mount St. Mary's.  The Mountaineers improve to 17-13 overall and 11-6 in the Northeast Conference with the win while clinching a home game in the upcoming NEC Tournament.  The Mountaineers remain in a tie for second place in the NEC standings, and can clinch the No. 2 seed with a win over Wagner at Knott Arena on Saturday in the final game of the regular season.

Chris Wray led the Mount with 16 points, hitting 7-of-10 from the field, while Jonah Antonio, Junior Robinson and Greg Alexander all added 11 points each.  Bobby Planutis chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds in the victory.  Robinson, the Mount's leading scorer at 22.6 points per game heading into the contest, was held scoreless until he converted a lay-up with 9:06 on the clock.  The senior guard scored all 11 of his points over the final 9:06 while adding eight assists in zero turnovers in the game.

Planutis scored five points during a 10-0 run that gave the Mount an early 14-4 advantage.  The Colonials fought back, taking their only lead of the game, 20-18, on a Koby Thomas three-point play.  On the ensuing possession, the Mount's Brandon Leftwich converted a traditional three-point play of his own for a 21-20 lead.  That started a 16-to-4 run that closed the half, giving the Mount a 34-24 advantage at the break.  Omar Habwe gave the Mount a lift off the bench in the first half, scoring eight points while adding four boards.  Antonio also scored eight points in the opening frame.

The Mountaineers maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half.  Leading 55-46 with 5:49 left, Robinson connected on a three-pointer and Wray scored the next six points, including an alley-oop dunk on a feed from Robinson, to put the game away.

The Mount shot 50.9 percent in the game, including 9-fo-21 (.429) from three-point range.  The Colonials shot 41.2 percent and were 7-of-20 from beyond the arc.  Dachon Burke led Robert Morris with 16 points and six assists while Matty Mcconnell finished with 14 points.

The Mount closes out the regular season on Saturday, February 24, with a 4:00 p.m. matchup with Wagner at Knott Arena.  The Mount will honor seniors Alexander, Robinson and Wray prior to the game.
