Mount Downed by Georgetown Despite Junior Robinson's 26-Point Effort

Washington, D.C. (November 15, 2017)—Mount St. Mary's lost at Georgetown, 102-68, on Wednesday night despite Junior Robinson's game-high 26 points.  The Mountaineers fall to 0-3 on the season.

Trailing 64-38, the Mount used a 14-to-2 run to cut the deficit to 14.  Donald Carey, Jonah Antonio and Robinson connected on consecutive three-pointers before Robinson converted a steal in the backcourt for a layup.  After a Georgetown basket, Carey connected on another three-pointer to make it 66-52 with 12:54 left in the second half.  That was as close as the Mount was able to get the rest of the way.

Robinson hit 9-of-19 from the field while adding four assists and three steals to his 26-point night.  Carey chipped in 14 points and six assists while Ryan tallied a career-high 12 points while adding four boards.

Jessie Govan led Georgetown with 20 points and 14 rebounds while Jahvon Blair had 19 points and five assists.  Jagan Mosely (15), Jamorko Pickett (14) and Kaleb Johnson (14) also had double figures in scoring for the Hoyas.

The Mountaineers shot 38.5 percent overall and was just 8-of-33 (.242) from three-point range.  Georgetown shot 57.4 percent and was 11-of-22 (.500) from three-point range.

In the first half, back to back baskets by Robinson and Carey knotted the score at 6-6 early in the contest, but the Hoyas answered with an 18-to-5 run to grab a 24-11 advantage.  A Greg Alexander three-pointer cut Georgetown's lead to 26-18, but the Hoyas again answered, this time with a 22-to-9 run that pushed the lead to 48-27.  The Mount scored the final five points of the half on a Robinson traditional three-point play and a Carey bucket of a Robinson steal to make it 54-36 at the break.

Georgetown shot 63.3 percent (19-of-30) from the field and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from three-point range in the opening half.  The Mount shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31), but was just 4-of-14 (.286) from beyond the arc.  Georgetown held a 22-to-8 edge on the boards in the half as well.

Alexander hit three triples in the first half to lead the Mount with nine points.  Gomes was 4-of-4 from the floor for eight first-half points with Carey chipping in eight points and four assists in the half.  Kaleb Johnson led three Georgetown players in double figures in the half with 12 points.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday, November 18, with a 4:00 p.m. matchup with North Florida.  That game is part of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational Mainland Regional and will be played at Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C.
