MOUNT UPDATE

Against Coppin State on Tuesday, David Stokely started the afternoon off with double to right centerfield, driving Ty Fredo and Alex Mendes for an early 2-0 lead. A quiet second inning was followed up by a three-run Mountaineer third, led off by a Ty Fredo single that once again sent Mendez home. Later in the inning, Carson Clark scored on a wild pitch from the pitcher, with Fredo scoring on a following wild pitch for a 5-0 lead.

Fredo recorded his second RBI of the day in the fourth inning, driving in Sam Dinitz in on a sacrifice fly to right field. Coppin State rallied in the middle innings, scoring four runs by the bottom of the seventh inning, making things close at 5-4.

But the Mountaineer bats began to churn again in the top of the eighth when Evan Meier reached base on a fielder's choice, scoring Sam Meyer from third. Clark walked on a bases loaded pitch later in the inning, driving in Parker Hildebrand while Fredo drove in Meier for his third RBI of the day. Bryce Rudisill drove in Mendes with a single, rounding out the Mount scoring, securing their second win on the year.

Ty Fredo went 2-2 on the day against Coppin State, driving in three RBIs, working a walk, and stealing a base. Mendes went 3-3 at the plate while scoring three runs. And Clark went 2-2, recording an RBI and two stolen bases.

JB Manarchuck received his first win of the year for his two and two-thirds innings of relief from the bullpen, striking out three batters. Jakob Foster started the game and stayed in for 4.0 innings, striking out two while only giving up three hits. Maximus McCrary was accredited with his first save of the year, pitching two and a third innings while striking out five.
