East Meadow, N.Y. (February 15, 2019) – Maddie McGraw swam to a fifth-place finish in the 100 back to highlight day three of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships for the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming & diving team.
McGraw clocked in at 56.17 in the 100 back to register the best finish by a Mountaineer through the opening three days of the championships.
Mount St. Mary's currently sits in eighth place in the team standings with one day of competition remaining. Bryant owns the top spot with 639 points, while Central Connecticut (413.5 pts) and Wagner (363.5) sit in second and third, respectively.
The Mountaineers had three other swimmers earn top-20 finishes on the night. Maggie deTar placed 17th overall and claimed the top spot in the 'C' final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:40.89. Juliet Whitman raced to an 18th-place showing in the 100 fly after touching the wall in 58.79, and Lauren Gullickson earned a 20th-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.77.
In the lone diving event on Friday, Laura Kingham posted a score of 141.00 to earn a 15th-place showing for the Mount.
To close out the night, the Mount's top relay squad of Mary Lombardi, Gullickson, Whitman, and Friedman placed eighth in the 400 medley relay in 3:58.51. Haley Bodner, Brianna Rizzo, Lizanne Passaro, and Cassie Mann combined for a time of 4:17.05 in the event.
The Mountaineers are set for the final day of the NEC Championships tomorrow (Feb. 16), with preliminary heats starting at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. Saturday's events include the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and 400 free relay.
