Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Fifth at Loyola Invitational


Baltimore, Md. (December 1, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming & diving team wrapped up the final day of the Loyola H2ounds Invitational on Saturday in fifth place.

Loyola won the invitational with 1,114.50 points, and Marist (914.50 pts), Iona (793), Howard (408), and Mount St. Mary's (293) rounded out the team standings.

Maddie McGraw earned the Mount's top finish on the final day of the invite, placing fourth in the 100 free with a time of 53.30. Jordan Friedman swam to an 11th-place finish in the event in 54.25.

In the 200 breast, Alyssa Felos clocked in at 2:30.89 to take 11th place, and Elizabeth Fahrney touched the wall in 2:31.25 to finish 13th.

Maggie deTar registered the team's top placing in the 400 IM, placing 11th in 4:45.37.

The team's other top-15 finishes on Saturday included Mary Lombardi in the 100 back (1:01.33), Eliza Felos in the 200 back (2:13.72), and Fahrney (1:09.48) and Alyssa Felos (1:10.28) in the 100 breast.

The Mount's top relay finish came in the 200 medley relay, as McGraw, Lauren Gullickson, Valeria Villagran and Friedman swam to a ninth-place showing in 1:50.74.

In the 200 free relay, the squad of Villagran, McGraw, deTar and Friedman placed 10th with a time of 1:42.44.

The relay team of Lombardi, Villagran, Friedman and deTar earned an 11th-place showing in the 400 free relay in 3:44.98.

The H2ounds Invitational was the final competition of 2018 for the Mountaineers. Action in 2019 starts with a dual meet at home against La Salle on Senior Day on January 26.
