Mount Women’s Swimming Claims 125-92 Victory at St. Francis Brooklyn


Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. (January 28, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's swimming & diving team registered nine first-place finishes en route to a 125-92 victory at St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, moving the Mountaineers to 4-1 on the season.

The Mount claimed victory in four of five individual freestyle events, led by Maggie deTar's pair of wins. deTar posted a first-place showing in the 1000 free in a time of 10:50.24, and followed with a victory in the 500 free, clocking in at 5:17.93. The Mount's other pair of individual freestyle victories were Maddie McGraw in the 50 free (25.93) and Bridget Vaughan in the 200 (2:03.20).

Sarah Bonson continued her standout season with a first-place finish in the 100 fly as the senior touched the wall in 1:01.88. Fellow senior Morgan Runk also claimed the top spot in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.52.

In 1-meter diving, the Mount took the top two spots led by Peyton Fuller's first-place score of 205.75. Laci Vickery placed second in the event with a score of 177.25.

The Mount also won both relay events as McGraw, Lauren Gullickson, Bonson and Runk took the top spot in the 200 medley relay in 1:54.68, and Runk, Je Moon Won, Juliette Lacoste and deTar closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:45.01.

The Mountaineers head to Loyola for a meet on February 4 in their final tune-up before conference championships.
