SETTING THE SCENE
The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's swimming & diving teams are back in action for their second meet of the season against Howard on Friday, November 4 at 5 p.m. in Emmitsburg. The meet will be streamed live on NECFrontRow.com.
Prior to Friday's meet, Mount St. Mary's will hold a Senior Day ceremony honoring Sarah Bonson, Claire McManimon, Amanda Moore, Morgan Runk and Hailey Vogt for their contributions to the program and the university throughout their four years at the Mount.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
The women's squad won 10 of 13 events en route to victories over VMI (153-43) and Manhattan (136-78) in the season-opening meet on October 8 in Emmitsburg. Senior Sarah Bonson led the way for the Mount with a pair of individual wins in the 200m IM (2:31.33) and 100 fly (1:07.60). The Mount dominated the freestyle at the meet, claiming first-place showings in four of five individual free events. Amanda Moore won the 100m free (59.80), Maggie deTar took first in the 200m free (2:11.39), Mary Lombardi claimed first place in the 400 (4:41.82) and Bridget Vaughan won the 800 (9:44.79).
The men's team also posted a strong showing in the season opener, which was the inaugural meet for the Mount men's swimming & diving program. Brock Cudahy and Will Twizell paced the team, combining for five top-three finishes on the day, including three first-place showings. Cudahy took first place in both the 100m (54.37) and 200m (1:58.91) freestyle events, while Twizell placed first in the 200m IM (2:13.89) and also claimed second place in the 100m back (1:01.75) and third in the 100m fly (1:00.42).
The Mountaineers head to Lancaster, Pa. for the three day Franklin & Marshall Invitational spanning November 18-20.
