Emmitsburg, Md. (September 13, 2018) - Mount St. Mary's women's rugby jumped five spots in the latest National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) Rankings. The Mount were listed at the number 13 spot in the NIRA Preseason Poll before they took down number 12 Sacred Heart Pioneers in the first week of action. With the win, Mount St. Mary's moved up five spots to number eight.

Ten different Mountaineers scored a try as the Mount St. Mary's Women's Rugby Team blanked Sacred Heart 76-0. This was the first win for the Mount in the Fall 15's Season since becoming a division one program last year. Freshman Ubaida Ahmed sparked the Mount offense in the first half with two tries scored. Graduate student Julie Crochet added two tries of her own in the second half that kept the Mountaineers in control of the match. Jordan Butcher, Lauren Judkins, Ubaida Ahmed, Jenna Lewaren, Hannah Orland, Nataly Cisneros, Molly Jackson, Julie Crochet, Samantha Mathis, and Maya Grassi all touched the ball down across the touch line for Mount St. Mary's in the win.
The Mount takes on Molloy College this Saturday, September 15 at 12:00 PM in Emmitsburg, Md.
