Maya Grassi | Flyhalf/Scrumhalf | Haverford HS

Why the Mount: "I chose to go to the Mount because I wanted to play for a serious rugby program and I like Coach Douglas' style of coaching. When I visited the Mount, I liked how it was a small, well kept campus in a nice location. I also chose Mount St. Mary's because it has small classes and good professors."

What I am looking forward to with this upcoming team/season/school year? "I am looking forward to working with new players and coaches to improve as a player and experience a new level of rugby."

Molly Jackson | Scrumhalf/Center | Westfield HS

Why the Mount?  "I wanted to play rugby for a school that had it as a varsity sport and was leaning toward West Chester University but after talking with Coach Farrah and hearing her passion for the game and her desire to grow the women's team at the Mount, she convinced me that this is where I needed to be."

What are you looking forward to with this upcoming team/school year? "I am looking forward to building a tough women's rugby team that can compete with the best of them and becoming close friends with my future teammates."

Lauren Judkins | Scrumhalf | Lee University

Why the Mount?  "Last May, as Chris Martin was searching for development opportunities for me over the summer, he called me immediately with good news: 'Farrah Douglas is going to be in Maine at a camp at Bowdoin in July! You have to go, Lou! Do you even know how big of a deal that is?' So, I went to Maine. There I met Farrah, who immediately mentored me in what I should do next, upon obtaining my undergraduate degree. Having done the journey herself, I hung on to every word she offered. When I received the offer to play under Farrah, I was humbled, thrilled, and most of all, nervous. In that moment, I made the decision I would do whatever it would take to get to Farrah at the Mount, and hopefully become a player that she was able to depend upon to work hard for her, always, no matter what."

What are you looking forward to with this upcoming team/school year? "To learn and develop under such amazing coaching staff, alongside of my new teammates who share a similar passion and drive."

Jenna Lewaren | Prop/Lock | Ashwaubenon HS

Why the Mount? "First off, the campus is beautiful. Academically, the Mount has everything I want and more. But it was truly the team. As soon as I got there, the girls on the team made me feel as if I were home."

What are you looking forward to with this upcoming team/school year? "I'm looking forward to making some awesome bonds with my teammates, and for school is to keep good grades and have fun."

Samantha Kay Mathis | Inside Center | Brentsville District HS

Why the Mount?: "I chose the Mount because it is a nice small faith-based campus/community that is very welcoming. I feel it will suit me because I work well in small tight knit environments, and I also like that it offers small class sizes and the opportunity to work with professors on a one-to-one basis. I can also say the rugby community has accepted me with open arms and given me that sense of family and belonging."

What are you looking forward to with this upcoming team/school year? "I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of my teammates and to successful rugby 15's & 7's seasons. I am also excited and looking forward to my freshmen year at the Mount and all the new friendships, experiences and memories that I will gain the next four years."

I have family members that attended and graduated from the Mount who are succeeding in life. I also like the fact that the University has a small classroom atmosphere. I will receive guidance and internship for my career path."

The people were kind, Coach Farrah was extremely welcoming, and the campus itself was so beautiful! It has the perfect home away from home atmosphere that I have always hoped for and couldn't find anywhere else. I can't wait to be a Mountaineer!"

What are you looking forward to with this upcoming team/school year? "I'm looking forward to playing rugby at a higher level in college while making new friends and continuing my education. Rugby is a very strong passion of mine and I can't wait for my first season at the Mount!"

Hanna I.C. Rojas-Rhodes | Prop/Hooker | Academy of Our Lady of Guam

Why the Mount?: "Since sixth grade, rugby has been a huge part of my life. In 2012, my first cousin got accepted into an amazing school in Texas where she would be playing basketball in Division II. I saw how far she came and was inspired to make the same kind of opportunity for myself. That's why when I started researching schools to apply to for college, one of the main aspects that I sought was the ability to play rugby. Not only did the Mount offer me an amazing opportunity to get a great education, but I also had the chance to play on their varsity rugby team in Division I, which was one of my dreams since 2012. Not only did the Mount offer this, but also Coach Douglas personally reached out to me and sought to make me a part of her team. Being welcomed by her had a big effect on me, which overall persuaded me to commit to the Mount. I wanted to be a part of a team that not only is welcoming, but also shared the same passion for the sport of rugby."

What are you looking forward to with this upcoming team/ school year? "The thing that I am seeking the most when I come to attend the Mount is a family. I will be leaving my family and teammates of four years on Guam. I look forward to making the same bond with my new coach and teammates and become part of the family."
