Charlotte, N.C. (March 31, 2018) - The Mount St. Mary's women's rugby team took home fourth place in the Queens Cup 7's last weekend. The tournament lasted all day with the Mount playing six matches total.
The Mountaineers played four matches in their Pool (College Pool B) before placing second in their Pool. The Mount recorded their first win in their inaugural season as a division one team defeating Citadel 39-0, before falling in their next three matches. Virginia Tech blanked the Mountaineers 47-0 in the second game, Indiana defeated the Mountaineers 20-7 in the third match, and UNC Wilmington edged the Mountaineers 19-15 in the fourth match.
After placing second in their Pool, Mount St. Mary's met Queens in the College Semi-Final 1 where Queens blanked the Mount 43-0. With the loss to Queens, Mount St. Mary's took on the University of North Carolina in the College 3rd Place/4th Place Match where UNC topped Mount St. Mary's 43-5.
The Mount women's rugby team is back in action Saturday, April 21 when they travel to Sacred Heart for the NIRA 7's.
