Mount St. Mary's Women's Rugby Tripped Up By West Chester On Saturday

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 14, 2017) - The Mount St. Mary's women's rugby team fell to the visiting West Chester Golden Rams 67-0 on a cloudy Saturday in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

West Chester's Lili Riley accounted for 28 of the Golden Rams points in the match, scoring four tries and converting four kicks.

The Golden Rams started the match driving down the pitch right up to the touch line but the Mount came up with two big stops. Juah Toe scored the first try of the match for West Chester off of a scrum near the touch line but the conversion kick was missed. WCU scored 22 unanswered points to go up 27-0 at the end of the first half. Five different Golden Rams players touched the ball down across the touch line in the first half.

Riley touched down the first three tries of the second half and made all of the conversion kicks after. The West Chester senior capitalized off of a Mount turnover when she scooped the ball up and ran across the touch line within the first minutes of the second half. Sophie Monboussin and Aalea Ray had the other two tries for the Golden Rams in the second half that helped West Chester run away with a 67-0 win.

The Mountaineers will travel to Molly for a match on Saturday, October 21 at 12:00 PM.
