Emmitsburg, Md. (September 9, 2017) - Mount St. Mary's women's rugby team downed by Kutztown 48-19 on Saturday morning. Rio Greenshields, Katelyn Comeau, and Sloane Robinson each scored a try for the Mountaineers. Comeau added two conversion kicks for the Mount as well.
Kutztown's Ari Casado scored the first try of the game after advancing the ball down the pitch and Niki Dudkewic converted the kick after. The Mount evened the score a little later after Greenshields muscled her way across the try line and Comeau went on to make the conversion kick. Comeau put the Mountaineers on top 14-7 with a hard fought try up the middle and converted the kick after. The Golden Bears answered with a try along the left hand side of the pitch but still trailed 14-12 at halftime after the conversion kick was missed.
Kutztown took control of the match by outscoring Mount St. Mary's 36-5 in the second half. KU scored 14 unanswered points until Robinson touched the ball down across the try line after advancing the ball down the left hand side. The Golden Bears would score the next four tries of the match that gave them the 48-19 victory.

The Mountaineers will travel to Harvard for a matchup on Friday, September 22 at 7 PM. The following day, Saturday, September 23, the Mount will play Castleton at Sacred Heart for a match at 2:30 PM.
