Emmitsburg, Md. (August 24, 2017) -- The Mount St. Mary's women's rugby team, led by first-year head coach Farrah Douglas, has announced its fall schedule for the team's inaugural season as a varsity program. The Mountaineers' eight-game slate includes three home matches at Echo Field.
"I am extremely excited to start our inaugural varsity season here at the Mount and work with team leaders Katelynn Comeau, Meg Miller and Natalie Cisneros to continue advancing rugby here as an integrated student-athlete experience," said Douglas. "We are looking to develop a dynamic style of rugby that centers around decision making and freedom of expression in our players. I can't wait to see what the young talent group of student-athletes are capable of achieving on and off the field over the next few years."
The Mount begins the season with a trip to Notre Dame College (Ohio) on September 2, before returning to Emmitsburg for the home opener against Kutztown on September 9.
Following the home opener, Mount St. Mary's travels to Harvard on September 22 to begin a three-game stretch on the road. After Harvard, the women meet Castleton for a match at Sacred Heart University on September 23, and are back in action at James Madison University the following week on September 30.
The Mountaineers return home for a match against West Chester on October 14, then travel to Molloy for a match the next weekend (Oct. 21), before returning to Emmitsburg to take on Norwich on October 28.
