STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (April 23, 2016) – Mount St. Mary's University women's lacrosse was topped by Wagner, 20-6, in a Northeast Conference tilt on Saturday at Wagner College Stadium. Kelly Maloney led the Mount with a team-high four points on three goals and one assist.
Kimmy Tumolo, Olivia Streilein and Taylor Pastore combined for 10 of the Seahawks' 20 goals in the contest to lead the team to victory. Katie Ferraro grabbed her fifth win of the season in goal.
Maloney tallied two of her three goals in the first half as she collected her 10th multi-goal game of the season and fifth straight. Molly Morris added two goals and Sammie Knapp chipped in with a pair of points (1g, 1a). Steph Rurkowski made seven saves, but took the loss in goal.
Knapp and Maloney registered back-to-back scores at the midway mark of the first half to tie the game at 2-2, but Wagner scored six of the final seven goals of the period to take an 8-3 lead into the break.
The Seahawks pushed their lead to 13-4 at the 21:55 mark of the second half after outscoring the Mount 5-1 in the opening eight-plus minutes. Tumolo and Pastore paced Wagner during the stretch with a pair of points each.
Wagner was able to hold the Mount offense at bay for the majority of the second period, yielding just two goals in the final 20 minutes to secure the 20-6 victory.
The Mountaineers return to Emmitsburg to host Saint Francis U. on the Mount's Senior Day on Friday, April 29 at 4 p.m. The Mount will honor seniors Molly Morris, Steph Rurkowski, Nicole Snyder and Sam Sparr with a ceremony prior to the contest.
