Women's Lacrosse Falls At Temple, 12-3
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Temple downed Mount St. Mary's 12-3 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Stephany Parcell paced the Owls (3-0) with four goals. Charlotte Swavola added three tallies and an assist while Karly Cohen chipped in two goals in the winning effort.
Temple scored the first four goals of the game and eight markers in the first half to take the lead and never look back for its second win in two years against Mount St. Mary's.
Parcell started the scoring with an unassisted tally at 1:49 before Swavola registered consecutive scores. Swavola found the twine unassisted at 2:13 and off a Kelsey Zenuk feeder 45 seconds later before Macie Hauck capped a 4-0 run with an unassisted marker at 8:06.
Price momentarily halted the Owls run with an 8-meter goal at 9:56, but Temple went on another 4-0 spurt to take an 8-1 lead at halftime. Kellee Pace (13:27), Parcell (24:50), Cohen (26:34) each scored before Parcell (28:01) capped the run to end the stanza.
Parcell got the scoring started in the second half with her fourth goal of the game at 32:38.
Diaz answered for the Mountaineers with an unassisted tally at 36:43 to trim the margin to 9-2. After Pace converted a free-position attempt at 44:24, Larrimore found the back of the twine at 47:31 to cut the deficit to 10-3. Swavola and Cohen each scored in the next two minutes to seal the win for Temple.
Brigid McTavish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) made 12 saves for Mount St. Mary's. Meaghan Conlon (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) recorded a team-high three caused turnovers while Esther Rufolo (Woodstock, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) scooped up a team-best four draw controls.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Wednesday at Columbia. Match begins at 7 p.m.
