Mechanicsburg, Pa. (December 1, 2018) - It's early, but after day one of Northeast Conference (NEC) play the Mount St. Mary's women's bowling team currently sits tied for first in conference standings with a perfect 3-0 record. The Mount picked up wins over St. Francis Brooklyn, #12 nationally ranked Sacred Heart and #9 nationally ranked Fairleigh Dickinson.
Freshman Rebecca Dodson, who posted a 19.80 baker frame average on the day, led the winning effort. Freshman Tamera Stanton also contributed for the Mount with a 19.19 baker frame average. Freshmen Danielle Milo (18.41 baker frame average) and Barbara Hawes (18.12 baker frame average) also pitched in nicely.

The Mount took care of St. Francis Brooklyn to pick up their first conference win in program history by a comfortable 4-0 margin. The win was aided by a big 222 second game.

#12 Sacred Heart: 1 (205-154-171-194-179)
The Mountaineers advanced to 2-0 heading into the BYE with a decisive 4-1 win over the #12 nationally ranked Sacred Heart. After falling behind 0-1, the team responded with four quality games to secure the victory.

#9 Fairleigh Dickinson: 3 (165-194-195-150-170-211-171)
In a thrilling match with the #9 nationally ranked team in the country, the Mount was able to pick up their first win against a top-10 opponent in program history with a 4-3 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson. The win also put Mount St. Mary's atop the conference standings heading into day two of conference play.
"Today was the first step in our goal to compete for a conference championship," said Head Coach Kenneth DeGraaf. "We will rest up and treat tomorrow as a brand new day where we hope to finish strong heading into the break."
The team will resume competition at 9:00 AM against #20 Duquesne, followed by matches with #19 LIU Brooklyn and #13 Saint Francis PA to conclude the first NEC meet.
