October 25, 2018 – Mount St. Mary's women's bowling freshman Rebecca Dodson has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player and Rookie of the Week.
Dodson led the Mount to a second-place finish at the team's first-ever home tournament, the Mount Shootout, over the weekend. The rookie earned All-Tournament Team honors after posting a traditional average of 202.60 on the opening day of the tournament, as her score was the third-highest traditional average among all competitors in the field. On Sunday, Dodson led the field with a 21.06 baker average, as she helped the Mountaineers reach the championship round. The freshman from Panama City, Florida averaged a league-high 20.57 pins per frame and rolled 44 strikes in 88 attempts at the Mount Shootout.
Dodson and the Mountaineers have gotten off to a tremendous start in their inaugural season, going 17-2 through their opening three tournaments while claiming a pair of trophy finishes, including the tournament crown in their first competition in program history at the Bud Whitman Memorial back in mid-October.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on November 2 at the Virginia Union Invite.
