Mount Women’s Basketball Tabbed Fifth in NEC Preseason Coaches Poll

Brooklyn, N.Y. (October 24, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team was picked to finish tied for fifth in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches Poll, which was announced at the NEC Media Day on Wednesday at the Barclays Center.

Last year's conference runner-up Robert Morris was tabbed the preseason favorite, receiving five first-place votes from the league's head coaches. Reigning NEC Champion Saint Francis U placed second with a pair of first-place votes, and Sacred Heart received three first-place votes and finished third in the poll. Bryant was tabbed fourth, Mount St. Mary's was tied for fifth along with St. Francis Brooklyn, and LIU Brooklyn took the seventh spot. Central Connecticut, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Wagner rounded out the final three spots in the poll.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 9-20 overall record and 6-12 mark in conference play in 2017-18. They bring back eight players from last year's squad, including All-NEC Third Team member and the conference's Most Improved Player Juliette Lawless, along with All-Rookie Team member Daly Sullivan.

The Mount bolstered this year's roster with the addition of four freshmen – Taylor Addison (Ellicott City, Maryland), Maqui Carrillo Ade (Rockville, Maryland), Delaney Connors (West Hartford, Connecticut), and Michaela Harrison (Cleveland, Ohio) – and two transfers – Kendall Bresee (Frederick, Maryland / George Washington) and Alexis Wooden (Binghamton, New York / Coffeyville CC).

Mount St. Mary's opens the 2018-19 campaign on November 6 at home against Washington College.
