Christopher Gabor Finishes Second, D.J. Workcuff Third in Decathlon at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. (April 25, 2018)—Christopher Gabor and D.J. Workcuff finished in second and third place, respectively, in the Penn Relays decathlon that concluded today at Franklin Field.  Gabor finished the two-day event with 6,503 points while Workcuff tallied 6,454.

Gabor, who entered the second day in fourth place, moved up with the top performances in the field in the discus (35.49m, 116' 5", 574 points), the pole vault (4.10m, 13' 5.25", 645 points) and the javelin (52.90m, 173' 7", 632 points).  He started the day with 743 points from his time of 15.91 seconds in the 110m hurdles.  Gabor closed out the competition with a time of 5:05.85 in the 1,500m.

Workcuff opened the day by running 16.80 seconds in the 110m hurdles for 645 points.  He followed with a mark of 31.06m (101' 11") in the discus (485 points) and a pole vault of 4.00m (13' 1.5") for 617 points.  The senior concluded the day with the javelin (39.90m, 130' 11", 441 points) and the 1,500m run (4:54.37, 593 points).

Ken Mullings from the University of the Bahamas won the event with 6,930 points.  The Mount has a storied tradition in the Penn Relays decathlon with 10 winners, the last being Tom FitzSimons in 2010.
