April 19, 2018—The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will be hosting Saint Francis U for the Catholic Classic on Friday at Morgan Track on campus.  This is the first of what is going to be an annual matchup with the host alternating every year.  Following the meet, there will be a team trophy and a senior ceremony presentation.

SCORING:  The meet will feature dual meet scoring (5-3-2-1).  Only two athletes per team can score.  Relay scoring will be 5-3.

MASCOT RACE:  Don't miss the Mascot Race when the Mount's Emmit S. Burg will square off in a 100m dash against Saint Francis U mascot Frankie the Friar at 3:20 p.m.

MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount had athletes at both the George Mason Spring Invitational and the Messiah Invitational last Saturday.  Brenden Chavis broke the school record in the weight throw to pace the Mount at Messiah while Justin Kimble won the 100m dash at George Mason to highlight the Mount's performances.  Click HERE for a full recap.

NEC WEEKLY HONORS:  Brenden Chavis was named the NEC Field Athlete of the Week while Kayla Barnes collected NEC Rookie of the Week honors for the Mountaineers this week.  Barnes has won three of the four women's NEC Rookie of the Week awards this outdoor season.  Overall, the Mount has taken home 11 NEC weekly honors so far this outdoor season.

UP NEXT:  The Mount will be sending athletes to the Penn Relays (April 24-28) and the Red Flash Open hosted by Saint Francis U (April 28) next week.
