January 27, 2018--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams had a successful weekend at both the Penn State National Invitational and the George Mason Patriot Games.  Freshman Kayla Barnes won the 200m dash at Penn State to highlight the results.

Barnes had a time of 24.93 seconds to win the 200m.  Her time is an ECAC qualifier and is second on the Mount's all-time list.  She also advanced to the semifinals in the 60m dash, recording a time of 7.83 seconds.  Barnes then recorded a time of 7.80 seconds in the semifinals to finish in 13th overall.  Mariah McLane finished fourth in the 400m dash (57.85) while Moriah Fitzgerald finished in third place and Rachel Finn in sixth place in the pole vault with each posting a mark of 3.50m (11' 5.75"). 

D.J. Workcuff led the Mount men at Penn State with a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 7.03m (23' 0.75").  Justin Kimble finished in third place in the 200m dash with a time of 22.08 seconds.  Christopher Gabor had a season-best mark of 4.50m (14' 3.25") in the pole vault to finish in sixth place.  Kimble advanced to the semifinals in the 60m dash with a time of 6.90 seconds.  He finished in 11th place with a mark of 6.93 seconds in his semifinal heat.  The Mount's 4x400m relay team of Brady Altland, Gabor, Andrew Humm and Sean Fahey was third with a time of 1:19.61.

At George Mason, Brenden Chavis took home first place in the weight throw with an IC4A qualifying throw of 17.13m.  Zachary Delker finished in second place in the shot put with a personal-best 15.03m while Colin Waitzman was third in the pole vault with a performance of 4.45m.  The Mount took home second and third in the 3000m with Will Merritt finishing second (8:46.46) and Nicolas Fransham third (8:46.80).  Benjamin Finnigan had a solid performance in the mile with in IC4A qualifying mark of 4:15.14 for fifth place at the meet while Isaac Kole was third in the 1000m run (2:30.75).

Erin Sample led the Mount women at George Mason with a first-place finish in the shot put (13.63m, ECAC qualifier) and a second-place nod in the weight throw (14.91m).  Chelsea Wright also took home a gold medal at George Mason with a mark of 1.60m in the high jump.  Jesslyn Manni was third in the weight throw (13.49m), Emily Wood fourth in the shot put, and  Maddie Kole fourth in the 800m.

The Mount returns to the track at the Akron Invitational on February 2 and 3.
