The Mount St. Mary's Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams to Participate In The Northeast Conference Championships

February 15, 2017: The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams head up to the Northeast Confernce Championships on Friday and Saturday which takes place at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY.

MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount men's and women's indoor track and field teams finished the regular season strong at the Du Charme Invitational this past weekend. 

Both the men and the women each had an athlete who had a first-place finish at the Du Charme Invitational hosted by Dickinson College on Saturday. For the men,  D.J. Workcuff won the 55m dash for the men's team.

For the women, Maddie Kole grabbed first-place honors in the 800m run. The women's pole vault team dominated the event, taking home second thru fifth place.  Elissa Ingram finished in second place with a mark of 3.55m, Moriah Fitzgerald and Rachel Finn tied for third with 3.40m, and Danielle Poletti was fifth with 3.25m.  Isabel Ross finished in third place in both the 400m and the long jump as well.

CONFERNCE LEADERBOARD: Brenden Chavis tops the NEC leaderboard in the weight throw this season with teammate Chase Boyle in second place.  On the women's side, Kenedi Facey has the conference's top result in the long jump, right ahead of teammate Natalia Hinton.  Moriah Fitzgerald and Elissa Ingram are tied for the top mark in the women's pole vault.  Other Mountaineers currently ranked in the top three in the NEC are Justin Kimble (2nd, 60m dash) and (3rd, 200m dash), Julian Woods (3rd, 60m hurdle), Christopher Gabor (2nd, pole vault) and (1st, heptathlon). 

LAST YEAR AT THE NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Mount St. Mary's women's indoor track and field team finished in fourth place while the men's team finished in sixth place at the 2016 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

For the men, Chase Boyle and Brenden Chavis finished one-two in the hammer throw to lead the Mount men last year while Julian Woods took home first place in the 60m hurdles to help the team as well.

For the women, Natalia Hinton won the long jump and Moriah Fitzgerald won the pole vault to pace the Mount women during the first day of the championships. The women's 4x400m relay team earned first place for the team during the second day.
