Akron, Ohio (February 4, 2017)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams rounded out their competition at the Akron Invitational today.
Freshman Justin Kimble had a strong performance, posting a personal-best time of 6.95 seconds in the 60m dash in the Gold Division preliminaries. He finished in seventh place in the finals with a mark of 6.97 seconds. In the 200m dash, Kimble had a personal-best time of 21.92 seconds to finish in seventh place in the Gold Division.
Mitchel Wileczek had a PR in the 5,000m run for the Mountaineers in the Gold Division. He finished in fifth place with a time of 15:28.99. Julian Woods finished in third place in the Gold Division in the 60m hurdles (8.16) while
In the heptathlon, Christopher Gabor had PR's in four of the events while finishing in fifth-place with a personal-best score of 5,017 to qualify for the IC4A Championships in the event. Brady Altland finished in third place in the Blue Division 400m dash with Jonathan Burns posting a PR of 1.90m to finish in fourth place of the Blue Division in the high jump. D.J. Workcuff finished in seventh place in the long jump in the Gold Division with a PR of 6.79m.
Nicolas Fransham (5th, 8:40.38) and Scott Baker (15th, 8:55.32) each had personal best marks in the 3,000m run while Sam Shinn (14.63m, PR) and Chase Boyle (13.83, season-best) had good showings in the shot put. Brenden Chavis was second in the weight throw (17.01m) to finish in second place of the Blue Division while Boyle had a mark of 17.02m to ninth in the Gold Division of the event.
For the women, Mariah McLane had a personal-best time of 58.59 seconds in the 400m dash to finish in fourth place in the Blue Division.
