January 28, 2017--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed a busy weekend with strong performances at both the Penn State National Open and the George Mason Patriot Games.
At George Mason, Clarke Hooper had the top result, winning the 800m run in a time of 2:19.51. She was also part of the Mount's 4x400m relay team along with Mariah McLane, Chardane Logan and Jameela Buchanan that finished in first place.
McLane finished in second place in the 400m dash (59.69) while Logan was third in the 500m dash (1:21.09). Shantell Karbegh and Kenedi Facey finished second and third, respectively, in the triple jump while Jesslyn Manni was fourth in the weight throw. Natalia Hinton was third in the long jump (5.41m) and seventh in the 60m hurdles.
For the men at George Mason, Alexander Devin was second in the shot put (14.25m), Jonathan Burns fifth in the high jump, Todd Sampson seventh in the 60m hurdles, and Zachary Delker seventh in the weight throw.
At the Penn State National Open, it was Julian Woods who had the top performance. The senior finished in fourth place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.09 seconds. Justin Kimble ran the 60m dash, recording a time of 7.07 in the preliminaries. Christopher Gabor was sixth in the pole vault (4.50m) and 12th in the long jump while D.J. Workcuff finished 13th in the long jump.
For the women, Rachel Finn was fifth in the pole vault (3.50m) and Maddie Kole ninth in the 800m run (2:16.90). Erin Sample added a ninth-place finish in the shot put (13.09m) and 14th-place mark in the weight throw (14.68m).
The Mount indoor track and field teams return to the track at the Akron Invitational on February 3 and 4.
