Chantel Lipkins Finishes Second in Long Jump at George Mason Spring Invitational

Fairfax, Va. (April 13, 2013)--Chantel Lipkins finished in second place in the long jump to pace the Mount St. Mary's mens' and women's track and field teams at the George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Lipkins had a leap of 5.70m to finish in second place behind West Virginia's Stormy Nesbit (5.86m).  Teammate Teika Robinson finished in sixth place with a mark of 5.51m.

The women's 4x100m relay team of Jessica Whitmore, Helena Leyrer, Lipkins and Genamarie McCant had a strong showing, finishing in second place in a time of 47.67 seconds.

McCant turned in a sixth-place finish in the 400m dash (55.76) and in the 200m dash (24.58).  Megan Kinsella posted a sixth-place time in the 3,000m steeplechase with a mark of 11:16.74.

For the men, Jon Fernandez finished in seventh place in the javelin with a mark of 60.90m while Joseph Barbato was ninth with a toss of 54.89m.
