April 9, 2013--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field team had a pair of student-athletes earn weekly Northeast Conference honors. Tommy Gruschow was named the NEC's Co-Track Athlete of the Week while Elissa Ingram garnered NEC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Gruschow posted a time of 14:26.94 in the 5,000m run at the Colonial Relays this past weekend. His time is the fastest in the event this season in the NEC, and is the sixth-fastest mark in Mount history. Gruschow's time is more than nine seconds better than the IC4A qualifying standard.
Ingram gives the Mount its second consecutive NEC Rookie of the Week honor after clearing a height of 3.75m (12' 2.5") at the Colonial Relays this past weekend. Ingram's mark is the second-best in Mount history and is also an ECAC qualifier. Mount sprinter Jessica Whitmore won NEC Rookie of the Week honors last week.
Mount St. Mary's is back in action at George Mason on Saturday.
