Mount Men Finish Fifth at NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships; Women's Team Places Seventh

COMPLETE RESULTS

Landover, Md. (February 10, 2013)--The Mount St. Mary's men's indoor track and field team finished in fifth place at the 2013 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.  The Mount's women's team finished in seventh place at the meet which was held at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.

For the men on Sunday, Jon Fernandez finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 17.77m (58' 3.75").  Gigi Gibilisco was fifth in the 800m run while Coby Rosemier-Gussio was seventh in the 60m dash.  Tommy Gruschow was fourth in the 5000m run.

In the relays, the Mount's 4000m DMR team of Sean Fritz, Gigi Gibilisco, Jaime Gibilisco and Chris Swisko finished in fourth place while the 4x400m relay team placed eighth.

Monmouth captured the men's crown with 164.5 points, followed by LIU Brooklyn (128), Central Connecticut State (100), Sacred Heart (64), Mount St. Mary's (51.5), Robert Morris (39), Wagner (34), St. Francis Brooklyn (28), Fairleigh Dickinson (27), Saint Francis (Pa.) (18) and Bryant (9).

For the Mount women on Sunday, Genamarie McCant finished in second place in the 500m dash with a time of 1:16.25 while Elissa Ingram was third in the pole vault at 3.60m.  Teika Robinson added a third-place finish triple jump (11.32m) with Jessica Whitmore finishing third in the 60m dash (7.69).

Helena Leyrer finished in sixth place in the 400m dash (58.69), and Desi Scott was eighth in the 500m dash.  The 4x400m relay team placed in fifth place.

Monmouth won the women's title with 162.5 points, followed by LIU Brooklyn (100), Sacred Heart (71), Saint Francis (Pa.) (64), Robert Morris (50), Quinnipiac (45), Mount St. Mary's (42), Central Connecticut State (37), Fairleigh Dickinson (33.5), Wagner (23), Bryant (18) and St. Francis Brooklyn (17).
