Mount Men's Track in Second Place After First Day of NEC Championships; Women's Team in Seventh

The Mount St. Mary's men's indoor track and field team had a strong first day at the Northeast Conference Championships, finishing the day in second place.  The women's team finished the first day in seventh place.  The meet is being held at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md.

For the men, Chris Swisko finished second in the 3000m run with a time of 8:32.83 while teammate Tommy Gruschow was fourth with a mark of 8:36.44.  Coby Rosemier-Gussio finished second in the long jump (7.03m) with Alex Gregro earning eighth place (6.42m).  Scott Rice finished fourth in the pole vault (4.30m) while Tim Nickas tied for seventh (4.20m).

Rosemier-Gussio qualified for the finals in the 60m dash (7.01) and the 200m dash (22.69) while Gigi Gibilisco had the fourth-fastest 800m time (1:55.56).

For the women, Teika Robinson fourth (5.38m) and Chantel Lipkins seventh (5.30m) in the long jump while Francine Pinnock was eighth in the weight throw.

Jessica Whitmore qualified for the 60m dash finals, Helena Leyrer in the 400m dash with Genamarie McCant and Desi Scott earning spots in the 500m finals.
