March 12, 2019--Mount St. Mary's junior Shelbee Holcomb (Glen Rock, Pa.) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week. Holcomb paced the Mount with a .533 average (8-for-15) with two doubles, four runs scored and five RBI in five games last week.
Holcomb has been on fire at the plate for the Mountaineers as she hit .560 during the Mount's 10-game spring trip, and leads the team with a .447 average this season. Holcomb went 5-for-7 in the Mount's split at Hampton while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in the win over Morgan State. She is the 10th Mountaineer all-time to earn a Player of the Week award, and the first since Lindsay Heinze won the award on March 5, 2018.
Mount St. Mary's has its home opener tomorrow against Maryland Eastern Shore. Game one of the doubleheader at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on campus begins at 1:00 p.m.
