Mount St. Mary's softball continues its spring trip with four games at Hampton University, beginning with a doubleheader on Thursday, March 7, at 12:00 p.m.  The Mount will also play Morgan State and Albany at Hampton as well.

MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount lost both games of a doubleheader at Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, falling by the scores of 8-4 and 5-2.  Shelbee Holcomb leads the team with a .360 average while Lindsay Heinze is hitting .340.  Amanda Berkley (3.73 ERA) and Katie Olson (3.89 ERA) lead the pitching staff. 

ABOUT HAMPTON: Hampton is 7-3 this season after going 4-1 last weekend at the Pirate Invitational.  Daniella Milloy is hitting .438 while Brianna Anderson has a .370 average.  Emily Workman (3-0, 1.50 ERA) and Allie Hotetz (3-1, 1.94 ERA) pace the pitching staff. 

ABOUT ALBANY: Albany is 3-4 this season after winning games against Colgate and George Mason at the Patriot Classic last weekend.  Katie Falotico leads the offense with a .409 average while Celeste Verdolivo is 2-2 with a 2.23 ERA in 22.0 innings in the circle.

ABOUT MORGAN STATE: Morgan State is 0-10 this season, but has played a tough schedule.  The Bears went 0-5 at the D1 Citrus Classic last weekend with losses to Fordham, UAB, Iowa and Notre Dame. 

THE ALL-TIME SERIES…

Vs Hampton: The Mountaineers are 3-6 all-time against Hampton. The teams last met in 2010 when the Mount earned 9-8 and 8-0 victories.  The Mount is 0-3 all-time on the road against the Pirates.

Vs Albany: Mount St. Mary's is 1-4 all-time against Albany with the teams splitting a pair of games last year.  The Mount defeated Albany, 14-6, on March 3, before the Great Danes came back with a 15-2 win on March 5.

Vs Morgan State: Mount St. Mary's is 15-15 all-time against Morgan State.  The Bears have won the past two matchups in the series.  Last year, Morgan State earned a 3-0 victory over the Mount on March 15.

PRESEASON POLL:  The Mount was tabbed to finish in seventh in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.  Sacred Heart was the unanimous pick to win it all, followed by LIU Brooklyn, Saint Francis U, Central Connecticut, Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, the Mount, Wagner and Robert Morris.  The Mount finished tied for sixth in the NEC standings last year with a 7-9 league record.

HEAD COACH ANNA NAGRO:  Nagro is in her ninth season at the helm of the Mount softball program, the longest tenure by a head coach in the history of the program.  Nagro has led the Mount to 37 wins over the past two seasons, including 20 in 2017, the most by a Mount team since the 2010 campaign.

UP NEXT:  The Mount is back in action on Wednesday, March 13, with the home opener against Maryland Eastern Shore.  The doubleheader starts at 2:00 p.m.
