MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount dropped a home doubleheader to Bryant (4-0, 2-1 in nine innings) on Saturday to fall to 19-28 overall and 5-9 in the Northeast Conference. Sam Lichtner allowed just three earned runs in 16 innings of work in a pair of complete games in the doubleheader. Rachel Heinze provided the Mount's lone run with a solo home run. Heinze leads the team with a .399 average, 50 runs scored, 14 home runs and 42 RBI. Lindsay Heinze is hitting .345 with a team-high 15 doubles. Lichtner is 12-9 with a 2.99 ERA in 143.0 innings for the season.
ABOUT THE RETRIEVERS: UMBC was swept in a three-game America East series this past weekend, and enters Wednesday's doubleheader with a 19-27 record, including a 3-10 mark in the conference. The Retrievers have lost six in a row overall. Maddie Daigneau leads the team with a .370 average while Carly Leko has a team-high seven home runs. Kim Puccio is 9-9 with a 2.55 ERA in 28 appearances to lead th epitching staff.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: UMBC holds a 34-11 lead in the all-time series with the Mount that began in 1991. The Mountaineers are 8-2 against UMBC over the past 10 matchups. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since playing four times in 2015 when the teams split a pair of doubleheaders. The Mount is 3-17 all-time at home against the Retrievers.
LAST MEETING: Rachel Heinze hit a three-run homer and Sam Lichtner tossed a complete-game to lead the Mount to a 4-2 win in the second game of a doubleheader at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on April 21, 2015. UMBC captured the opening game, 11-5.
